December 2011 XL Refrigerators kits out £1.3m Somerset farm shop development
This time, the refrigeration specialist brief was much bigger as Pynes upgraded from its small butchers shop on the main street in North Petherton, near Bridgwater, to a purpose built £1.3m shop next to Junction 24 of the M5. XL designed and supplied the counters for the fresh meat, delicatessen, and fresh fish, as well as the multi decks, freezers and rotundas. The firm also provided heated displays and the till stations. All of the serve over counters were independently tested and found to be three times more energy efficient than required for the enhanced capital allowance scheme run by the Carbon Trust. Once the work was completed XL removed the chilled cabinet, under a part exchange scheme, and found it to be in the same condition as it was when installed many years earlier.
December 2011 XL are delighted to have supplied special refrigerated displays for the new Za Za Bazaar in Bristol
Za Za Bazaar, which is located on
Bristol’s Harbourside, covers 30,000 sq ft and features every
type of global cuisine from India, China, Japan, the Far East,
South America and Europe in a buzzing oriental ‘night market’
environment.
The eat as much as you like menu includes fish and chips, burgers, pizza, sushi, noodles and salads much of which is laid out in buffet style, but some of which is cooked fresh in front of customers’ eyes. With a 700-seater restaurant upstairs
and a 300-seater bar area downstairs, it is anticipated that
2,100 people will pass through its doors each day. The drinks menu is as adventurous and varied as its cuisine with 300 different tipples inspired by all five continents. Meanwhile, just as impressive as the front of house operation is the back of house where the kitchen includes six fridges – the biggest being 400 sq ft. On a Saturday night 8,000 dishes are washed up, fortunately this is all fully automated, using a conveyor belt system. Although Za Za Bazaar is the biggest restaurant in the UK, it is the quality of the food that matters, says executive chef Nitin Bhatnagar: “What is important to us is not the size of the restaurant, but the quality, freshness and variety of the food that we will be serving. “It is the personality, skill and individualism of our master chefs that will make Za Za Bazaar famous - as well as the scale and variety of this operation.” November 2011
Just short of £ 700 raised by 'the team' for Children in Need March 2011 XL Super Stardust added to the ECA Technology list - now eligible for 100 % first year capital allowances and
August 2010 New secondary refrigeration systems up and running at Heathrow Airport for Caviar House ... In T4 we have 3 three large multi decks and one L shape Super Stardust all capable of running off one single phase 11 amp unit - amazing energy efficiency ... ( we actually have 2 to make sure we never have a chilling problem ) We have a very small amount of 410A refrigerant ( 1.8KG ) in an 8KW water chiller ... If these were integral they would be taking roughly triple the energy requirements that the new XL displays are taking. The energy efficiency comes from a chilled 'water' temperature no lower than 0C to achieve 5 C in the displays. The closer the air temperature to the chilled water temperature the more efficient the system. In the past normal refrigeration engineers have designed coils and systems to run at DX temperatures .. minus 6C or below .. and hence have not seen the full benefit of a well designed chilled water system To achieve this we use very large 'cooling' coiling coils and a little more air flow than a standard DX system ..
